AN ODE TO PAPER /// EATING FASHION

CORRIDOR AND STAIRS presents a new curatorial and exhibition project for 2013: An Ode to Paper.
EATING FASHION curated by Essen | A Taste Magazine

The curatorial and exhibition project, An Ode to Paper, is a way of investigating the many identities of photography in the field of independent publishing. It intends to increase awareness and knowledge of this activity both for its content and, above all, its visual form, and to give importance to a new way of communicating that is completely different to more traditional approaches. The curating of the exhibition will involve research and the selection of independent publishing projects. From fashion magazines to fanzines realized for shows installed in urban domestic contexts. From life-style to design, from food to architecture.

An ode to paper in our digital age. The first 2013 event – held at the same time as Milano Moda Donna – involves Essen | A Taste Magazine. Active since 2010, it is the first magazine worldwide to consider food in a transversal manner by way of interviews and in-depth inquiries. A sartorial publishing product that is seduced by change, a result of its investigations into all the forms of edible material. From 23 February to 25 March Corridor and Stairs will be hosting a selection of shots, chosen from the editorials of Fashion Food, taken by the photographers of this independent magazine (Carolina Amoretti, Andrea Artemisio, Mara Corsino, Federico Garibaldi, Andrea Massaro, Nadia Moro, Silvia Puntino, and Delfino Sisto Legnani). The magazine has attempted to create a genuine channel for formal and photographic research that has never been considered as such before. Important photographers from the past have been engaged in fashion photography concerned with food. Essen | A Taste Magazine has turned this into a real genre by insisting that Fashion and Food are contemporary keys to defining a style. For the opening of the show, Essen | A Taste Magazine has conceived a special project devoted to “zines”: incrEDIBLE zine. An ironic editorial that, printed and talked about, is now also eaten. Realized with the collaboration of Linda Troni, previously Essentaste’s food talent and now a food designer in her own right, the project will experiment with printing on 3D food. So devouring a recipe will no longer simply be a metaphor. During the evening it will be possible to taste the delicious Cuvée Rosè Champagne of the Maison G.H. MUMM.
